Site - Charm of Industry Legacy
Since it is an international practice in respect of city's infrastructure construction to build public art centers out of deserted industrial relic buildings, the selection of the site for Shanghai Sculpture Space was based on the mission of promoting the protection and reuse of Shanghai’s industry legacy. After discreet consideration and debating on several plans, the former No.10 Steel Plant of Shanghai Steel Company was finally chosen as the site for Shanghai Sculpture Space that is located at 570 West Huaihai Road, Shanghai.

The plant was built in 1956, with the main building 180 meters in length and 18 to 35 meters in width, covering an area of 6,280 square meters. The grand robust buildings with large open space prove to be the ideal site for the development of Shanghai Sculpture Space.
